The Arts & Crafts House
Published in Hardcover by Watson-Guptill Pubns (October, 1999)
Author: Adrian Tinniswood
Average review score:

A Visual, Readable Treat
While this book covers many already familiar houses, the layout is thoughtful and inventive, the text is informative while including many interesting asides that make it one of the best introductions to the topic that I've seen. If you just want one book on the Arts and Crafts house, this is it.

At Home In France: Eating and Entertaining with the French
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (July, 2000)
Author: Christopher Petkanas
Average review score:

Delicious and Insightful
No need to buy a ticket to France.....this book takes you there in ways only MFK Fisher and possibly Richard Olney managed. I loved it and continue to mine its rich vein of recipes. It seems extraordinary that an American could so truly and sensitively capture the culture of France.

Authentic Decor: The Domestic Interior 1620 - 1920
Published in Paperback by Sterling Publishing (June, 2001)
Author: Peter Thornton
Average review score:

Engrossing Study Of The Domestic Interior.
Authentic Decor: The Domestic Interior 1620-1920, is far more than a history of the evolution of the domestic interior. Written by Peter Thorton, of the Victoria and Albert Museum, it shows first and foremost that an interior is a reflection of its owner. Everyone is well represented in its 408 richly illustrated pages, from the poor, to the middle classes, to the rich & the grand. Much valuable insight is to be gained from reading this book. I have kept it on my coffee table for years and have guarded it with my life, because people are so engrossed by it. I hope that somebody will use all of their powers of persuasion to convince Viking Penguin, Inc. to re- issue this stunning & informative book!

Autocad for Interior Design and Space Planning
Published in Paperback by McGraw-Hill (January, 1993)
Authors: Beverly L. Kirkpatrick and James M. Kirkpatrick
Average review score:

To The Point
This is an excellent resource for anyone who has previously tried to utilize other "beginner's manuals" on AutoCAD and have been confused or overwhelmed. It is a step-by-step guide written in simple terminology with pictures! My kind of to-the-point without the extemporaneous info!

Baby's Room: Ideas and Projects for Nurseries
Published in Paperback by Chronicle Books (May, 2002)
Authors: Jessica Strand and Jennifer Levy
Average review score:

classy baby room ideas
okay, i admit, i'm very picky when it comes to decorating. i recently had a baby and when it came to designing her room, i was in a quandry as to how we ideally wanted to decorate it. I'm a designer, so i prefer to stray from the pack and create a unique environment, yet still maintaining comfort and class. This book brought it all together! The colors, themes and choice of furniture were ideal to what we had in mind. No corny ideas in this book. The rooms are designed so that they can grow with the baby for a while as well. I'm hoping our little girl will enjoy her garden theme for at least 5 more years :) If you're one to do projects, the book instructs you on how they created a few of the room accents...a floral coat rack, for example.
Great ideas, great photography, great book.

Basic House Wiring
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (February, 1976)
Author: Monte Burch
Average review score:

Exceptional How-to
I've used this book to help me in several wiring jobs as we remodel our home. I've never done any wiring befor, but with this book all my projects (from ceiling fans to completly rewiring a new addition to the house) have come out right the first time. The book is full of easy to follow illustrations and is written in clear easy steps. I borrowed 5 books on wiring from a friend when I started working, and kept coming back to this one as it is most complete and easiest to follow. I highly recomend it to anyone in need of a helping hand while doing home wiring.

I'm no electrican but.....
I had this help book for years then I loaned itut, bye.
This book helped me to re-wire my own kitchen and basement
using both 120 & 240 volt lines.It has bee a god-send when
my friends ask me to help them with whatever they want to do.
It is worth far more, to me at least, than ORTHO asks for
it. I am now ordering another one now. I think every handyman
should have it.
